Promotions for the Sloans

I just realized I forgot to write about Shawn’s new position and mine. The day we signed on our house, Aug 31st, I was offered a position as a loan officer at our West Valley location. There was only one downfall, they didn’t know exactly when I would be going out there. See, my work decided a while back to merge with a company from Virginia to get a better financial standing. I don’t know what happened, but all of a sudden hiring was on a stand still. We were so short handed that they couldn’t afford to move people around until they hired a bunch of new people. It's alright though, because I finally moved to my new branch on October 17th and I have loved it ever since.

It was a change that needed to happen. I had become restless after being at the same branch doing the same thing and dealing with the same people for four years. The change has been great!!! Not to mention that there isn’t a day goes by that I laugh my butt off.

At the West Valley branch, there are four girls (not that Murray had any boys either). One of them happens to be Breanna Olsen, one of my besties. There is Jennie, she is the silent but deadly type. She is innocent, but get her talking and she will reveal it all. Well kind of. Then there is Lindsay. She is one giggly lady. I was afraid to work with Lindsay because of the impression I got from somebody that she was hard to get along with, but I love her to death!!! All in all, we are turning West Valley into the best branch. Slowly, but it is happening. West hasn’t had the best rep over the last few years.

Any ways, I really like my new position! Doing loans and helping people make choices that benefit them is fun. I enjoy giving my two cents and finding ways to help them save money if possible.

Shawn decided a little bit after we moved into our house that he was going to put in for a position as a Lead Teller at the Park City branch. I will admit, I was fighting him on this decision. I didn’t want him driving up a canyon, getting home late, and putting a bunch of miles on our newly purchased Maxima. I don’t know if that makes me a little selfish, but I had a hard time with him wanting to do this.

He put in for it still and interviewed and surprise surprise he was offered the position. I remember Shawn calling me at work asking me what I thought. My first question was, “How big of a raise Shawn?” He let me know they would be increasing his pay by four dollars. That made the decision that much harder. He pointed out reasons as to why he should take the job. Number one, it makes him that much closer to a branch manager. Number two, four dollars is a good raise. And number three, it puts him in a higher pay scale when he comes back down in the valley.

I told him it was his choice and that either way I would support him. I said if anything we would break even between the raise and gas so whatever he decides. Shawn took the job while giggling that this puts him even farther ahead as the breadwinner. That’s right, for the first 10 months of us being married, I was the breadwinner.

Shawn is also enjoying his new branch. He told me that besides the location, he wouldn’t change a thing. He likes the people he works with and especially his manager Bo. He said that he is the easiest managers to talk to.

Well that is a little bit about our new positions that we have been in for a couple of months.

Until next time....
