First Valentines as a married couple and I think it went over really well. Originally I had told Shawn that it was a “girl’s holiday” and that I would make a nice dinner for him but not spend money. He agreed, but then (like always) I got too caught up in the excitement of gift giving and told Shawn I was going to get him a gift. We went back and forth on our budget and let’s just say I didn’t stick to it.
I planned to only spend thirty but when I paid for the two shirts I got him it came to $35. (But my reasoning was that he needed more casual shirts, which he does.) Not to mention I bought decorations to make our dinner special so that was an additional ten bucks. I was so excited, I had it all planned two days in advance, I knew what I was going to make for dinner, I bought a tall skinny candle for our candle light dinner, I had his present, and I had decorations for the house.

I stood at our kitchen window waiting for Shawn to pull in for 25 minutes or so. I wanted the lights off, dinner on the table, and the candle lit when he walked in. As soon as he finally arrived (later then I planned for) I went into full speed to beat him with everything before he could open then door. I hid and when he turned on the lights I jumped out and yelled “SURPRISE!”
“Are we having a surprise party?” Shawn asked
“Nope just Happy Valentines Day party,” I responded
He was holding a lot of things so of course I took my rose, bubbly, and peanut butter M&Ms off his hands and thanked him with a kiss.

I loved my gift...the M&Ms were gone in four days :) |

Such a gorgeous rose!!!! |
Dinner was delicious even though the noodles had gotten a little cold and had soaked up most of the sauce. I was pretty full from tasting my cooking, the whole time I was waiting for Shawn, so I didn’t eat too much but he loved it. I have never had a dinner by candle light before and that one was perfect J.
The rest of the night, is history…….
OHHHH and side note, one of Shawn’s friends had his little baby girl on Valentines Day! Congrats Taylor and Jessica, Ella is gorgeous.
I love that you get so carried away with things. Reminds me of the time that I first met Shawn. Do you remember the fancy dinner that you were feeling under dressed for? So funny. I love the pictures and the rose is gorgeous.
