Stick 'em up!!!

SHAWN HAS FINALLY SHOT A GUN!!!

I say it like it is such a shocker because in my family it is. We all have shot guns since we were little. My grandfather was a cowboy who grew up with guns so naturally he would have my mom grow up with them too and naturally she had us grow up with them as well. Not to say we constantly had a gun in our hand but I remember going several times growing up. But truthfully I hadn't shot a gun in years before Saturday.

When I asked Jake (he goes all the time) to take Shawn because he had never shot a gun before, Jake's response was, "Well we have got to fix that." And when we were having my birthday dinner the Sunday before we went and I said to everyone that we were going to go shooting so Shawn could shoot one for the first time everyone said, "What?! you have never shot a gun before?" This was serious, we had to get this fixed. Originally I wasn't going to go but then I decided I needed to tag along since it had been so long.

It was a ton of fun, I only wish that it could have been warmer that day. I had on a hoodie and a coat and I was still cold. Shawn was keeping me entertained however with his combat like moves. He loved to shoot the gun while "on the move". He also was having fun creeping up on targets (clay pigeons). It was pretty cute to watch his child Shawn come out and play. When I said he was funny his comment was, "Kali I have played enough video games to know how to do this." OH Shawnathon, you are so cutsie sometimes.

I'll tell you though it was quite the bonding time for me, Shawn, and Jakers. We giggled (okay I giggled), laughed, and all around just had fun together. Well I might be putting words into their mouths, but I really enjoyed myself.

AWE how cute? Me and the two boys.

I was scared to shoot it and for good reason, it was powerful.

Jakers shooting the rifle.

Shawn being silly!

The highlight of the whole thing had to be when Jake chased after a cow. They were all over and I asked what would happen if they charged at us. Jake told me that they are too scared of us to do that and you can't even get close to them without them running away. He proved his point! He got out of the car as we were headed to our second spot to shoot and chased a cow that was minding it's own business. It was quite hilarious to see the cow go running across in front of the car and then Jake running behind him. Jake said his goal is just to touch one. What can I say, my little brother is such a boy.

The second spot we went to was right by a little river. Jake said it was fun to shoot things as they float down the river and he was right, it was. It was even cooler to just take the shot gun and shoot it into the water. It would make this bubbling explosion looking thing. This is where Shawn got his "Shooter pose" captured.

How cool is this?? Eh eh?

Happy Birthday to my Mom!

Happy Birthday MOM!!! She turned 57 this year! FIFTY SEVEN!! All I can say is that I hope when I am her age I look as good as her and be as active as she is. She still can kick my butt at basketball and volleyball.

At Olive Garden 3.18.11.... Kasiah, Mom, and Arlee
Notice Shawn's face! Classic Shawn....Jakers too.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Happy Birthday to Me! Happy Birthday to ME!!!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR KALI!!! Happy Birthday to MEEEE!!!!

My work gave me balloons!!! (Birthday shirt)

This year I turned 22! And even though it wasn't quite as memorable as my 21st birthday (Jazz game an getting stranded at the TRAX station), it was fabulous! Shawn and I both took my birthday off which was the best because we got to sleep in. We got up late and then headed to lunch at Panda Express. It was really yummy and then we hit the stores! It was fun for me but poor Shawn looked like he was being tortured. Total I think we spent three hours shopping and if it exhausted me to the point where I needed a nap, I don't blame Shawn for being tired.

Before we headed out! Oh and Shawn did a Goatee for my b-day.

What we bought for my birthday: 3 skirts, 2 shirts, necklace, and earrings

My mother and father in-law gave me a $50 gift card to Olive Garden which was perfect because that is where we had planned on eating anyways. We also went and saw Just Go With It and it was HILARIOUS! The day was perfect and I wouldn't have spent it any other way, well I probably would have enjoyed getting the shopping done in an hour or less :).

Waiting for our movie to start so we took pictures in the car.
Also my mom got me a new purse which I love! I have been wanting a yellow purse for forever! We also had a birthday dinner for me at my parents. It was delish because we had BBQ hamburgers hmmmmmm mmmmm good! And of course for dessert, angel food cake with strawberry frosting.

Chelsey can not work my camera very well.

That, my friends, is a ton of smoke hehe.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes from my friends and family. It means a lot.

Goooooooodbye Token! Hello Dreamy!

It has been along time coming but it has finally happened. I am now a proud owner of a 2004 Nissan Maxima. Well I should say WE are proud owners of a 2004 Maxima. Shawn's car was a two door that we needed to get rid of. I know what it seems like, we needed a "family car". But while that is somewhat true kids are still not in the near future. Our reasoning was that it would be a good idea to do it now so that it will be paid off when a kid joins our family.

The funny thing is that when we started to seriously look at cars I told Shawn I didn't want to get too much of a bigger loan than we already had for Token(Shawn's black Honda). So we set the limit at $7500. The Maxima was more than that and I know for a fact that the reason Shawn came to my work in a gorgeous silver 04 Maxima was because he knew that I had been dreaming about that car for so long and I would expand the budget. He knows me too well!

So as we said "Hasta La Vista Baby" to Token...

Goodbye Token, SHAWN will miss you :)
Token was actually bought by one of Shawn's high school buddies. He didn't know it until the potential buyer showed up to look at it. He paid a little less then we were asking for but we still came out on top with money to put down for the Maxima.

This all happened so fast. Shawn had put Token on KSL a week before he sold it. The day we sold it is the day that Shawn happened to have off and while he was "dilly dallying around," he fell in love with the Maxima. While Shawn was at the Nissan dealership negotiating a trade in price he got a call from Eddy (Token's buyer). By the time I got off work Shawn was at America First with Eddy to finalize the sale. We then went from there right to Tim Dale Nissan in Murray to sign the paper work to buy our Maxima.

Now if you know me you know that my parents drilled it into my head that you shouldn't buy a car unless you can pay it off in no more then two years. I have done that with both cars I have bought and actually paid them off in less then two years. We are going to do the same with this car. But if you also know me, I freak out about having debt. Shawn will tell you that while we were sitting there waiting to sign papers to drive off in the car of my dreams, I was freaking out. Not in the "oh my gosh the car of my dreams is going to become a reality" way, but more "holy freak this is the most debt I have ever been in" way. He had to calm me down but it didn't last too long. Within the next couple of days it happened again and again Shawn has had to calm me down. Thank goodness he can actually calm me down.

Now as you might have guessed, I name my cars. First car I had was Bluebird (94 Pontiac Bonneville that I had from ages 16-18), then I bought Goldilocks (96 Nissan Maxima that I bought when I was 18 and we still have her), and then I helped Shawn name Token (02 Honda Accord Coupe) when we were dating. After we had signed the papers at the dealer and she was in our possession, it was time to give her a name, and what could be more fitting than DREAMY! After all she was my dream car and she quickly become part of Shawn's dream. Who wouldn't want a car that is spacious enough for a man who is 6'7'' and is a manual?

Isn't she gorgeous???? We love her!

Happy Birthday Meeko!!!

Today is Meeko Liko Sloan's 3rd birthday. I can't believe three years has gone by so fast!

Meeko the day I met him....he was 2 weeks old
It was love at first sight with Meeko and I. All the puppies were lying together and he crawled over to me and put his cute little head in my hand. Even after three years he still does the same thing except he put his head on my shoulder, arm, knee and whatever else he can. He is such a cutie. To this day I still say that he chose me.

My first time holding my puppy!!

Meeko sleeping in my arms.

Can you see why he is so freakin' cute?!?!
I visited Meeko every week until I could take him home. It was so hard to keep walking out the door without him every time. But once I brought him home I immediately became a mom (hehehe that is right, he is my little boy).

First day home.

Sleeping on my mom's lap.

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE BOY!!! :)

My Right Hand Ladies

Jessica Butler, Ashley Hagler, Kali Sloan, Nicolle Moss, & Breanna Olsen

Seeing how I started this blog after I got married, I didn't really get a chance to write about life before I got married and most importantly, wedding details. I was talking to my friend who is currently living in Australia and she asked why she wasn't mentioned on my blog. It got me thinking that I haven't mentioned any of the girls whom I had chosen for my bridesmaids. Everyone knows that the girls a bride chooses to be in the wedding party mean a great deal to her, so as such I thought I would write about them. What they mean to me and why I chose them to be my right hand ladies as I got married.

My Maid of Honor

Ashley Hagler and I have known each other since the days of kindergarten. We weren't always the best of friends and really didn't have a solid friendship until 10th grade but we still have pictures of us together when we were little.
Ashley and I had boyfriends around the same time, we were best buds at graduation and moved out together that December, we bought puppies together and our love for each other became that of a sisterly love. Ashley was always that friend that I confided in, she knew everything right as it was happening. She has helped me through so much and continues to be such a great friend and an even better sister.

Bridesmaid Number One

Jessica Butler is the bridesmaid who I have actually known the shortest. She and I met at Utah Central Credit Union when I hired her to be one of my tellers. We didn't hit it off or become good friends until she got promoted to a Head Teller at another branch. Jessica and I have the best times together. We can talk for hours and hours and in the end not even know what we talked about. She is someone who if I have a bad day, I know I can call her up and she will listen to everything I have to say. She helped me through a breakup and always has great advice to give. I love spending time with her and was actually visiting her in Idaho when Shawn popped the question. She got to share in the excitement as it was happening. It just sucks that she lives five hours away :(.

Bridesmaid Number Two

Breanna Olsen is my "retarded sister". I have known her for as long as I can remember. I am pretty sure it was before kindergarten, just because she was in my Stake when we were growing up, but I can't be positive. Just like all my friends, mine and Breanna's friendship was on again, off again. We were really good friends in high school until we let a silly little thing like my boyfriend come between us. It wasn't until after high school and a break up with "the boy" that our friendship blossomed again. I went down to see her in St. George right before going on my first date with Shawn and we had a blast. I remembered why I love her so much. She is after all my "retarded sister".

Bridesmaid Number Three

Last but not least, Nicolle (Cotton) Moss. Nicolle is my cousin who happens to be one day younger then me. When we were little we were inseparable. We always were together, having sleepovers, hanging out with Grandpa, or whatever else we could do. We shared birthdays and often got the same gifts. Just like everyone else, our closeness eventually faded. It wasn't until about two years ago that we started becoming close again. I can't tell you how bad I missed my cousin and how nice it was to have her back.

Thank you to my ladies who have been there for me and who helped me through the biggest event of my life.
